Electric Arc Furnace

LWB supplies a full range of brick and monolithic hearth products to provide both AC and DC electric furnace operators with long life and low refractory consumption.

Hearth design

LWB's monolithic bottom materials are manufactured with high quality magnesia, coupled with our own high purity, high quality doloma. Products are available for new bottom installations as well as both hot and cold patch applications for any type of electric arc furnace.

LWB Refractories can provide a material spreading hopper. The hopper is used for spreading monolithic repair materials onto hot banks and bottoms of electric arc furnaces.

LWB Refractories' product line includes doloma and magnesia/doloma based monolithic hearth materials.

Sidewall design

Electric furnace conditions continue to be very demanding and the need for high performance, high quality sidewall brick is most important. LWB Refractories magnesia carbon brick offer cost effective solutions for slagline, hotspot, and lower sidewall problems. LWB incorporates high quality sintered and fused magnesia, natural flake graphite, and metallic additions in our products. Fused grain magnesia is used to increase the products performance in high-powered, high output furnaces.

Taphole design

For submerged, syphon or bottom-tapping tapholes, LWB can supply either preassembled shapes or re-sleevable units incorporating an inner pre-assembled tube.

These assemblies are used also in association with slide-gate taphole valves. The highest-quality refractories are selected for this output-critical component of the lining, e.g. C-MAG C 240 V contains fused magnesia-carbon and is vacuum-impregnated. This product can also be supplied with antioxidants.
