Torpedo Ladle

LWB offers a wide range of products for the torpedo ladle lining. Under normal operating conditions a so-called "white lining" – burned bricks based on bauxite – is recommended. Our standard lining concept, consisting of ALUBAX and ELOBAX grades, gives excellent performance.

For more severe conditions, carbon-bonded alumina bricks based on andalusite are the first choice for a torpedo ladle lining. LWB has introduced the SITALBRICK family to meet these requirements ("black lining"):

  • lower wettability
  • higher resistance to chemical attack
  • higher thermal shock resistance

To meet the most severe conditions, our ASC grades  are recommended. ASC (alumina – SiC – Carbon) brick further improves thermal shock resistance as well as abrasion resistance.

A special mortar – SITAL – BONDMIX 220 – is used for brick installation in torpedo ladles.

Iron Ladle

As conditions in iron ladles become more demanding (pretreatment), more high-quality refractories are being used.

Similar to a torpedo ladle lining, there are principally two different lining types:

  • "white" lining and
  • "black" lining

A "white" lining concept consists of PANTAL (andalusite) and ALUBAX or ELOBAX (both bauxite) bricks.

The SITALBRICK grades are our solution for medium conditions, ("black lining") and exactly like a torpedo ladle, the first choice for extreme conditions is ASC bricks.
