LWB Refractories has invested extensively in its manufacturing facilities and in the training and development of people to ensure that its plants are among the most technologically advanced in the industry.
Dolomite and other refractories are produced on three continents in 9 plants. The total production capacity exceeds 700,000 tons per year of shaped and unshaped refractory products. Dolomite is sintered in rotary kilns or vertical shaft kilns to produce a dense, hydration resistant grain suitable for the manufacture of high quality dolomite refractories.
Computer driven and controlled crushing and mixing units produce raw material mixes which are then shaped by hydraulic presses with a power of up to 2,500 tons.
A high level of process control and robotic handling contribute to superior product quality and productivity. Shaped products are thermally processed according to design parameters: burned bricks in tunnel kilns at temperatures of up to 1700°C and tempered bricks in a curing oven at up to 300°C. A range of various package formats is available depending upon the particular product, transport mode, route, storage conditions and climate.
